Interview With the Author

1. Have you ever considered writing under a pseudonym, and why or why not?
I did consider a pseudonym, but I decided I am proud of my words and I want my own name on the story. I also didn’t see a benefit to creating additional social media for an imaginary person.

2. What part of the book was the most fun to write?
I love to write the inciting moment. The event or action scene that kicks off the story and the protagonists journey.

3. What comes first for you — the plot or the characters — and why?
Definitely the characters. If you create an interesting character and build out the goal, motivation, conflict, character flaw, relationship barrier… you basically have a story already.

4. When did you first call yourself a writer?
I don’t remember when I wasn’t a writer. I planned to be an author when I was in elementary school, I just got derailed by schooling and family and career. Taking the time to write is a choice. Like that cake I had with dinner. Everything is a choice.

5. What books did you grow up reading?
The black stallion novel series, Judy Bloom, Where the Red Fern Grows…really anything I could get may hands on.

6. If you had the power to cure a disease of your choosing, what would it be?
Alzheimers.
