John Hamilton Waaser is a Lake Butler nonfiction author and retired motorcycle journalist who served as the Eastern U.S. Contributing Editor for Cycle World magazine through the mid-to-late 1970s. Kenneth Wald is a Gainesville author and Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Political Science at the University of Florida, where he also held the Samuel “Bud” Shorstein Professorship of American Jewish Culture and Society and served as director of the Center for Jewish Studies. His scholarly books on religion and politics in the United States, Great Britain, and Israel earned him the university’s Teacher/Scholar of the Year award, and his most recent academic work, The Foundations of American Jewish Liberalism, won the National Jewish Book Award in American Jewish Studies in 2020. Late in his career he turned to memoir with The Ghosts on the Wall, an account of how the Holocaust shaped three generations of his own family, the Schönwalds, built from his grandparents’ letters and his parents’ recorded recollections.

Darryl Wimberley was born in St. Augustine and grew up largely in Hastings and Mayo, graduating from Lafayette County High School, where he was a football standout and academic honoree before heading to the U.S. Air Force Academy and, eventually, a Ph.D. in Radio-Television-Film from the University of Texas at Austin, where he now lives.
