Meet Maleinna: Teen Author Taking the Fantasy World by Storm
At just 16 years old, Maleinna, a South Florida published author, is already making waves in the indie publishing world with her captivating Lost Souls fantasy series.
This remarkable young author juggles being a high school student and college attendee while maintaining an active writing career. Her debut series follows a little girl who loses her body and becomes only a soul, embarking on an adventure with the main character to recover what was lost. As their journey unfolds, they uncover mysteries spanning 15 years and discover shocking truths about their parents’ past.
Self-Publishing Success
Maleinna has chosen the self-publishing route, currently utilizing Amazon’s KDP Select program after initially exploring Draft2Digital and IngramSpark. Her strategic approach to platform selection demonstrates a mature understanding of the publishing landscape that many seasoned authors would envy.
“I started doing a lot more promotions and marketing, and I started being more active on social media, so I’m starting to see results,” Maleinna explains. Her multi-platform presence includes Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and Threads, proving that today’s young authors understand the importance of building their brand across diverse channels.
Writing Wisdom Beyond Her Years
When asked for advice for new writers, Maleinna’s response reveals wisdom far beyond her 16 years: “The main thing I would give to people who are just starting out in writing would be consistency. Start out small and do a little bit every day, even if it’s just one page or a few paragraphs. Most importantly, write for yourself.”
Her genre preferences span fantasy, action, adventure, and mystery, with her favorite trope being “found family” – a theme that resonates strongly with young adult readers.
Looking Ahead
With strong family support and clear career goals, Maleinna is already working on her next project, “The Lights Within,” which will launch another series. She’s also pursuing studies in arts and culinary arts, showing that creativity extends beyond her writing into other areas of her life.
